Six fined for defying govt restrictions to prevent coronavirus UNB

A mobile court in Feni on Thursday fined six people Tk 21000 for keeping shops open and staying at shops unnecessarily violating the government order in Sonagazi upazila to prevent coronavirus transmission.

The mobile court led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ajit Deb conducted the dive in Oalmabazar, Nabiullah Bazar, Italy Bazar, Matiganj Bazar, Matiganj Bus Stand, Hajistand and Baktarmunshi Bazar of the upazila from 5 pm till 10 pm.

It also warned two people to keep their shops shut until further notice.

The government on March 23 declared general holiday from March 26 to April 4, aiming to prevent the transmission of deadly coronavirus. Later, it also extended the holidays till April 9.

During the period, no shops and markets will be allowed to keep open. But kitchen markets, food shops, pharmacies, hospitals and all emergency services will remain out of the purview of the general holidays.
